Georgia Teacher Found Dead On Mexican Roadside, Suspect Arrested

A Georgia educator was found dead on a Mexican roadside after going missing while on vacation. A man has been arrested in connection to the case.

Alexandra Morales, 24, was in the country visiting family and attending a concert before going missing. Her body was discovered in a car in Guadalajara on Tuesday.

Authorities said they have arrested a person connected to the elementary school teacher’s death but have not released any more details about her death. WSBTV says the suspect police detained has not yet been identified.

Morales was last seen at a concert. Her family last heard from her on October 30, and they were unable to reach her afterward. Mexican officials were made aware she was missing on November 5.

Morales taught first grade at the Benefield Elementary school in Gwinnett County. On Wednesday, the school notified parents of her death.

“After notifying our staff members, we made phone calls to the families of students in Ms. Morales’ class so that they could comfort their child,” the school said in an email. “That said, we know this loss touches many in our school community, and we want to support our students and staff members during this difficult time.”

A GoFundMe created for her family describes her as “adored by her parents and loved by her two brothers.” She had a passion for traveling and was a caring teacher, according to the page.
