Boxing star Gervonta Davis is facing legal trouble after being arrested Friday morning in connection with an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend last month, police confirmed.
Authorities say the incident occurred on the night of June 15 outside the woman’s home in Doral. Davis, 30, was picked up by officers in Miami Beach and later transported to the Doral Police Department. The arrest stems from an altercation that allegedly unfolded on Father’s Day.
According to the report, Davis and the woman had been in a four-year relationship and share two children. On Father’s Day, he arrived at her home to pick up the children, but the exchange turned tense. Police stated that a verbal dispute escalated into physical violence.
The report says Davis told the woman to take the children out of his car. When she leaned in to remove their daughter, “Davis struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face,” causing “a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.”
She reportedly texted her mother, saying Davis was assaulting her and asked for help. When her mother came outside, she found her daughter crying and arguing with Davis. The mother also recorded part of the incident, capturing Davis throwing a small box at the woman.
Davis reportedly declined to complete or sign a Miranda warning form. He was charged with battery and is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond has not yet been set.
