Gervonta “Tank” Davis is no longer facing domestic violence charges after the alleged victim in his case chose not to move forward with prosecution.
The WBA lightweight champion was arrested on July 11 following a dispute that took place last Father’s Day. According to police reports, the argument escalated over personal matters, including Davis’ concerns about their son’s sexuality. The alleged victim claimed Davis struck her in the back of the head with a closed fist and slapped her in the face, prompting her to seek medical attention. She also told authorities there had been around 10 other incidents of physical altercations in the past, none of which had been officially reported.
A hearing had been set for August 12, but the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office confirmed the case was dismissed. Prosecutors said the victim’s attorney verified her decision not to proceed, and a potential witness — the alleged victim’s mother — also refused to cooperate, skipping a scheduled prefile conference and ignoring attempts to contact her.
