Boxers Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia are putting big money on their upcoming fight.
The stakes are high when it comes to the men’s match this weekend. Now, they’ve both made things even more interesting by betting their entire purse on the highly anticipated matchup. On Tuesday, Davis hosted an Instagram Live session alongside streamer Kai Cenat. They brought in Garcia, and the three men discussed the upcoming match. During their banter, the men made the massive bet.
The bet was met with excitement from Cenat, and the 200,000 fans tuned into the IG Live. Cenat jumped around the room yelling, “We about to get paid!” while Davis seemingly made a call to solidify the bet. Davis is reportedly on track to bring in $1.5 million from the fight, while Garcia’s payday should net just $350,000. Despite his smaller number, Garcia pushed to put his money on the line. The pay-per-view share is also a 60-40 split working in Davis’s favor.
“You hear me on the live, let’s go, let’s make a contract, let’s sign it, both of us,” he told Davis.
According to the Daily Mail, if things go Garcia’s way, he could bring home over four times his current fee. The 24-year-old is currently 23-0, with 18 knockouts. On the other hand, Davis currently holds a 28-0 record, with a stunning 26 knockouts.
Boxers betting their entire purse is not a new practice. Jake Paul and Tommy Fury agreed on a “double or nothing” type setup in February. Paul moved forward with the contact, but Fury’s team refused to sign in.
Davis and Garcia will face off on Saturday, April 22nd, in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
