Following a court appearance on Thursday, boxing champion Gervonta Davis was taken into custody and escorted to the Baltimore City Central Booking Intake Facility, where he will serve the remainder of his three-month sentence for a hit-and-run.
Last month, Davis was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest after entering a guilty plea to four counts related to the November 2020 accident that wounded four people, including a pregnant woman. He was also given three years of probation and 200 hours of community service and ordered to participate in a Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel.
Before being detained, Davis had been serving his house arrest at his trainer, Calvin Ford’s, home.
The boxer’s attorney, Michael Tomko, said Davis was taken to jail during an “impromptu” hearing late Thursday afternoon.
The decision comes less than two weeks after Davis defeated Ryan Garcia by seventh-round TKO in the biggest match of his career.
