Shaquille O’Neal is taking his beef with Shannon Sharpe to the next level, this time taking their feud to the booth.
The 19-year NBA pro dropped the track on his Instagram. The beginning features a soundbite of Sharpe, claiming that the former ball player “hates every big man.” O’Neal then lets the beat breathe with additional commentary from Sharpe before he hops on the track and delivers his stellar bars, joining the ranks of 2024‘s rap beef.
“Shannon Sharpe, man, you’re way beneath me. Your whole demeanor is fake… you’re soft/ Before you get fly, you rather tweet me/ I was in three different cars when you was in three feet/ All I see is dollar signs, they coming in three deep,“ Shaq rapped.
This arrived after Sharpe refused to acknowledge Shaq as one of the GOATs in basketball. He even said O’Neal is envious of other players mentioned as being the greatest. Shaq didn’t take too kindly to these words and dragged Sharpe in a lengthy Instagram post, suggesting the “Night Cap“ host was jealous of him.
Sharpe addressed his words on the show, claiming that the 52-year-old admitted he didn’t train well enough during his career and could have been much more successful if he had worked harder. Clearly, Sharpe’s clarification did nothing to soothe Shaq, who resorted to listing his career wins online and dusting off his microphone. If you recall, Shaq was once a rapper while still in the NBA, releasing records such as “I Know I Got Skillz” in 1993 and “What’s Up Doc?” Therefore, this is familiar territory for the sports icon.
Sharpe has not dropped a response diss track, though that would certainly make things a bit more interesting.
