October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to step up, spread awareness, and support the fight against breast cancer.

Whether you’re ready for a charity walk, looking to hit up a fundraiser, or wanting to join a local event, there are plenty of ways to get involved in major cities this month.

Here’s how you can show your support, along with actual dates, links to donate, and some fantastic Black-owned organizations making a difference!

Charity Walks & Runs

One of the most popular ways to contribute is by joining a breast cancer walk or run. Here are some major events happening this month:

New York City:
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Los Angeles:
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Location: Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA
Link to Register/Donate: https://secure.info-komen.org/site/SPageNavigator/mtpw_eventdetails.html?fr_id=10522

– Chicago:
American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Date: October 5, 2024
Location: Soldier Field Stadium Green
Link to Register/Donate: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR?pg=entry&fr_id=108748

Host or Attend Fundraisers

If walking isn’t your thing, you can still make an impact by attending local fundraisers. Here are some events to check out:

– Houston:
Drink Pink Fundraiser
Dates: Various events throughout October
Location: Multiple participating bars and restaurants
Details: Check local listings and social media for participating venues and events.

– Atlanta:
Pink Ribbon Gala
Date: October 17, 2024
Location:  The Carlyle Atlanta
Details: Follow local event pages on social media for updates on ticket purchases and location announcements.

3. Support Black-Owned Organizations
In addition to the larger organizations, consider supporting these Black-owned organizations dedicated to breast cancer awareness and support:

– Sisters Network Inc.
This national organization focuses on the needs of African American women affected by breast cancer through education, support, and advocacy.

– The Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI)
BWHI works to improve the health of Black women, including breast cancer education and advocacy efforts.

– The Pretty in Pink Foundation
Founded by a breast cancer survivor, this organization provides financial assistance for breast cancer patients, particularly focusing on Black women.

Volunteer or Donate

If you want to make a difference but can’t attend events, consider volunteering with a local breast cancer organization. Many need help with planning and organizing walks, setting up booths, or assisting with fundraisers. You can also make a direct donation to groups like:

– Susan G. Komen Foundation
Link to Donate: [Komen Donation](https://www.komen.org/donate/)

– American Cancer Society
Link to Donate: [ACS Donation](https://www.cancer.org/donate.html)

– National Breast Cancer Foundation

Wear Pink and Spread Awareness

If you can’t make it to an event, you can still show support by rocking pink all month long. Many brands partner with breast cancer organizations, so a portion of your pink gear purchase goes directly to the cause. Plus, posting on social media about Breast Cancer Awareness Month and sharing resources can help get the word out.

October is all about coming together and showing love to those affected by breast cancer. Whether you’re walking, donating, or just spreading awareness, every bit helps! Get out there, get involved, and help make a difference this Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2024.
