After suing the sports company Southside Throwbacks for using his nickname on their products, NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo has settled the court case.
In documents obtained by the Blast, the company was accused of using Antetokounmpo’s nickname “Greek Freak,” without permission or compensation.
The greek basketball player sued for trademark infringement, counterfeiting of his trademark, trademark dilution, deceptive acts and practices, and other claims, the outlet reports.
However, the documents reveal that Southside Throwbacks began working with the basketball star. Both parties reached a confidential settlement, thus causing the case to go away.
“The parties are interested in resolving the issues alleged in the complaint in this action, and have negotiated in good faith for that purpose,” the court documents read. “Defendants recognize the validity of Plaintiff’s trademarks and concede to Defendants infringement of such trademarks.”
“Any and all of the claims for damages by Plaintiff are the subject of this action or otherwise arise out of any of the incidents alleged in the Complaint are hereby settled against the named Defendants, for monetary consideration, in full satisfaction of all claims for damages,” Antetokounmpo said.
