On Monday, Nike announced the release of the inventive GO FlyEase sneaker, touted as the first genuinely hands-free shoe.
Born out of innovative design and engineering, the GO FlyEase features a patent-pending bi-stable hinge and midsole tensioner that allows the shoe to be hands-free. The hinge allows the shoe to be fully secure in both the open and closed states, allowing the wearer to easily step into or out of the shoe.
The shoe is made for people who have difficulty tying shoelaces but will appeal to anyone who would like to slip their shoes on or off with ease easily.
“Usually, I spend so much time to get in my shoes,” says champion fencer Bebe Vio. “With the Nike GO FlyEase, I just need to put my feet in and jump on it. The shoes are a new kind of technology, not only for adaptive athletes but for everyone’s real life.”
The GO FlyEase will initially be available to select Nike Members via invite-only. Nike plans to release the shoe to a broader consumer base later in 2021.
The shoe will debut in multiple colorways, including white, Celestine Blue, and Volt, in black, Dynamic Turquois, and Hyper Crimson, as well as black, Anthracite, and Racer Blue. The sneaker will retail for $120.
