A fake GoFundMe account for Amber Heard has been removed from the platform.
Following the verdict of Heard’s trial with Johnny Depp, a phony $1 million campaign was created in Heard’s honor. The fundraiser was created by a woman named Kimberly Moore, who says she set up the account to help Heard raise money to pay Johnny’s damages.
Moore claims that she’s contacted Heard’s legal team and vowed that Heard would have direct access to the raised funds.
The “Justice For Amber Heard” campaign description reads, “I believe Amber and social media protected the abuser. The judgment exceeds her net worth. It’s so sad that he was able to get away with the abuse. The judgment furthers that abuse. If you can, please help her.”
However, the fundraising platform says the account was flagged immediately before a substantial amount was raised. They also determined that Heard’s legal team had no knowledge of Moore creating the account. The campaign was ultimately shut down, and GoFundMe says they will continue looking for fake pages.
Heard was ordered to pay Depp $8.35 million after a judge found her guilty of defamation. Nevertheless, Heard’s legal team says they plan to appeal the court’s decision.
