The Golden State Warriors take home the trophy! Dub Nation claimed their fourth NBA title in eight years by defeating the Celtics 103-90 in game 6 of the finals.
Stephen Curry battled some ankle injuries earlier in the season but scored 34 points in the last game. Curry’s eyes filled with tears when talking about the victory for his team.
“We found a way to just get it done.” Curry also took home MVP for his first time ever, which is super hard to believe!
Curry continued, “It’s part of a championship pedigree, our experience. We built this for 10-11 years. That means a lot when you get to this stage.”
Klay Thompson’s injuries were more brutal as he just returned from an ACL injury midseason. Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson all have earned their fourth ring, the first three rings in 2015, 2017, and 2018.
Coach Steve Kerr had some words to share as well. “They’re all unique. They’re all special. This one might have been the most unlikely. … It takes a group effort to get it done, and we had a great group.”
Stephen Curry says this win “hits different.” “Injuries, the changing of the guard, rosters, the young guys. … Now, we got four championships. Me, Dray, Klay, and Andre.”
The Celtics initially had a lead on the Warriors. Still, they couldn’t pull it together after the first quarter letting the Warriors maintain a comfortable lead throughout the whole game.
