Gold’s Gym Owner Rainer Schaller and His Family Are Missing After Plane Vanishes Off Costa Rica

The owner of the famous Gold’s Gym franchise and his family have been reported missing.

On Friday, Rainer Schaller, his partner Christiane Schikorsky, their children, and another fitness trainer were traveling from Mexico on a private plane.

According to reports, the aircraft lost communication with a control tower while flying near Barra del Parismina in the Caribbean Sea.

Since then, the Costa Rican Coast Guard have been searching for the group and found several personal items and two bodies in the sea. The identities of the corpses have not been identified but Costa Rican officials believe Rainer and the other passengers are dead.

Rainer is the founder and CEO of the RSG Group that operates a slew of gym chains across the world. Rainer acquired Gold’s Gym a few years ago after the franchise filed for bankruptcy during the 2020 Covid pandemic.

The gym is pretty popular here in the states with big named celebrities like Muhammad Ali, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many others that have utilized its services.
