GOP Strategist Anton Lazzaro Accused of Soliciting Sex From Minors; Charged With 10 Counts of Sex Trafficking, Conspiracy, Obstruction of Justice

A Republican strategist was arrested and charged on several counts of sex trafficking, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice.

The FBI confirmed to The Daily Beast that Anton Lazzaro was taken into custody Thursday in Minneapolis on a ten-count indictment. He faces several serious charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors, five counts of sex trafficking of minors, one count of attempted sex trafficking of a minor, and three counts of obstruction of justice.

He is accused of conspiring “with others to recruit and solicit six minor victims to engage in commercial sex acts” between May 2020 through December 2020, the Business Insider reported.

He had his first appearance before Magistrate Judge Becky Thorson and will remain behind bars pending a formal detention hearing scheduled for August 16, the Department of Justice announced.

According to Lazzaro’s LinkedIn page, he is the CEO of Gold River Group, a consulting firm in Minneapolis. He is the founder of Big Tent Republicans, a political action committee “dedicated to broadening the base and appeal of the Republican Party to a new and diverse generation of Americans.

The disgraced strategist has appeared on Fox News, Fox radio, Newsmax—a far-right network, RT, and other television and radio networks.
