A Baton Rouge, Louisiana man, ended up in the emergency room after trying to start a new trend, the “Gorilla Glue Challenge.”
The challenge was in response to Tessica Brown’s recent woes with the product. Apparently, Len Martin thought her troubles weren’t that serious and set out to prove it by using the glue to attach a red Solo cup to his upper lip.
“I thought she was just playing around; I didn’t think it was that serious,” Martin told Fox 8. “All these challenges going on, I thought, ‘I’ma go ahead and try it.’ And it went backwards.”
Martin thought he would be able to lick the glue off, ReVolt reported.
“That didn’t work, though,” he told the news outlet. He spent over an hour in ER, and luckily, doctors were able to remove the cup from his lip. Martin described the ordeal as “painful peeling.”
According to the outlet, he now has to keep his lip bandaged to heal and may have to go under the knife to get the tip of his lip surgically removed.
This isn’t Martin’s first viral challenge. In 2020, he appeared on “The Dr. Oz Show” to discuss the adverse side effects of the “Ice Cream Challenge,” which involved people licking grocery store ice cream and putting it back on the shelf.
Tessica Brown went viral after she videotaped herself after using the powerful adhesive as a hairspray in her hair. She was seen trying to use shampoo on her hair to get it out, but her hair wouldn’t budge. After over a month, she finally found a Beverly Hills surgeon who removed the glue from her hair.
Martin has since warned people on the “Gorilla Glue Challenge, “This is not the challenge you want to try. Do not try this.”
