“You Got Me In My Feelings” Big Freedia Says She Had To Reach Out To Drake  For “In My Feelings” Video Appearance After “Nice For What” Snub

Over the weekend, Drake dropped his New Orleans-themed “In My Feelings” video, which featured a slew of celebrity guest apperances, fan video clips and Drake’s acting skills.

Though the video turned out to be the perfect culmination to the viral sensation, there were a few minor bumps in the road ahead of the shoot.

According to Nola’s own bounce music pioneer, Big Freedia, who also made an appearance, she said she had to reach out to Drake when he touched down in her hometown.

However, she maintained that there was no bad blood between the two, especially since he made good on the “Nice For What” controversy.

Freedia said the Canada-native made up for  leaving her out of the video, which featured her vocals, when he asked her to pull up for a cameo in “In My Feelings.” Despite the fact that she had to initiate the offer, she said it’s still a step in the right direction.

“I decided to hit him up myself, and was like, ‘Why you ain’t let me know you in New Orleans,’ he was like, ‘I just got here, why don’t you come through, we’re shooting a video tonight, I want you to get a few cameos,’ so I did that,” she said, as she clarified the fact that there was no apology for the initial snub.

“I guess he felt like, ‘You didn’t make ‘Nice For What’ but that’s why I made sure that I responded soon as you hit me up, so that you could be ‘In My Feelings,’ in that video,” she said. “It’s definitely a step in the right direction and I think that other artists out there should feel the same way.”

“No matter what your background is, no matter if you’re a gay artist that we could be able to be there just like anybody else,” Freedia said.
