26-year-old André Wakefield, also known as #DJOfficial, was killed in a double drive-by shooting in South Los Angeles over the weekend, and celebrities such as DJ Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign have already expressed their grief over the Grammy-winning producer’s death.
Wakefield and a friend were both shot outside of his home, while his grandfather was mowing the front lawn. The killer allegedly fled in a black SUV. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
#DJMustard posted a dedication to Official via Instagram that read, “I’m beyond hurt. I’m devastated. I’m sick to my stomach. I love you lil bro forever #prodbyofficial …. I got your son 4 life this ain’t how it was suppose to go.”
Ty Dolla $ign also shared an emotional Instagram post writing, “How the f**k they gon’ take #prodbyofficial ? Who the f**k was mad at my bro? According to NBC Los Angeles, Wakefield’s grandfather said, “All [Wakefield] did was go to work and come home. He didn’t belong to [a] gang or nothing like that.” Official’s cousin told the news outlet that Official was at the studio with #NipseyHussle two days before the rapper was killed on March 31.
One of his final Instagram posts was a dedication to Hussle.
