The Grammys are honoring N.W.A. with the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their influence on the music industry.
The Recording Academy revealed on Friday that N.W.A. will receive the esteemed accolade alongside other recipients. The awards ceremony will take place on February 3rd at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Notable figures apart of the honoree lineup include Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, the Clark Sisters, Tammy Wynette, and Laurie Anderson.
N.W.A. will join the recipients as the sixth Hip-Hop act to be receive the award. The list of previous recipients includes Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Salt-N-Pepa, and Slick Rick.
Additionally, DJ Kool Herc is also be honored for his cultural contributions and far-reaching influence. The 68-year-old pioneer will receive the Trustees Award, which is a “Special Merit” accolade. Crafted by Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., the award is given to individuals who embody the “rich diversity” that propels creative communities.

A remarkable group of creators and industry professionals whose impact resonates with generations worldwide,” he said. “We look forward to honoring these music industry trailblazers next month as part of our week-long celebration leading up to Music’s Biggest Night.”
