Gucci Mane Reflects on Getting Infamous Ice Cream Cone Face Tat: ‘I Wasn't in a Healthy Place’

Gucci Mane is calling for peace in hip-hop, urging his fellow artists to stop insulting dead people in their music.

In a practice made popular by Chicago artists, dissing people who’ve been killed in rap songs is now an international wave that has sadly resulted in several lives being cut short. Rapper Gucci Mane has previously engaged in the practice but has now grown past it and is encouraging other artists to do the same in his latest single, “Dissin the Dead.”

“Young n***a wicked on pills and going on drills, we need to stop dissing the dead,” Guwop raps on the chorus.

In the song, Gucci takes accountability for his role in this practice, most famously his multiple disses towards rapper Pookie Loc, the Jeezy affiliate whom he killed in self-defense in 2005. His most recent diss towards Loc came on the record “Rumors” alongside Lil Durk, another rapper who has directed lyrical shots towards those who’ve passed away.

“Dissin the Dead” was coincidentally dropped the same day Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan lost his life to gun violence at his home in Bogalusa. While the young rapper has been accused of dissing dead opps in the past, many sources have reported that the rapper’s father was the intended target of the shooting.

The 1017 founder is not the only rapper that has urged his counterparts to stop dissing the deceased. Wiz Khalifa previously pleaded with rappers to find new material to rap about in a series of tweets last year.
