Guests at a Super 8 Motel in New Mexico say they were hit in the eye by a meth shot during their stay.
Police responded to complaints from a guest at a Super 8 Motel in Portales, New Mexico, last week. According to a news release from the Portales Police Department, the guest claimed that a “piece of methamphetamine” struck “them in the eye after it came out of a faucet,” according to a news release from the Portales Police Department.
Police confirmed while at the scene of the crime that the substance was, in fact, methamphetamine. In a statement, police said a “large amount of methamphetamine had been introduced to the building’s water system and then continued throughout the building.” During their investigation, police also found drugs in areas around the motel, including inside an ice machine.
The city has since suspended water service to the motel to “stop the potential for contamination of the city’s water supply and to protect those still occupying the building,” police said. Portales Public Works and the New Mexico State Police say the city’s water has not been contaminated, Yahoo! News reports.
Super 8 has yet to release a statement.
