In a preview clip from his upcoming sit-down with K. Foxx on 99 Jamz Miami, the rapper shared his side of the story for the first time.
“Who does that, bro?” Gunplay said, referring to the allegations that he pointed an AK-47 at his then-wife Vonshae Taylor-Morales while she held their baby. “I was just at Fleming’s Steakhouse the night of, and like a couple hours later, I woke up and I was, like, in a cell with two bologna sandwiches and a jumper. I couldn’t understand what just happened.”
Gunplay, whose real name is Richard Welton Morales Jr., said he was blindsided by the entire situation. “She just flipped the switch out of nowhere and, you know, hindsight is 20/20 when I just look at [it]overall,” he shared.
The rapper believes Taylor-Morales suffers from untreated narcissistic personality disorder.
“They live in their own bubble, their own reality, they have their own delusions…that’s a protective shell around them,” he said.
Despite the public fallout, Gunplay says he never lost faith.
“I always knew I was gonna be vindicated cause I didn’t do anything, but I just knew that this was gonna be a process I was gonna have to go through by myself.”
Gunplay was released on bond after being held at Miami’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
