A man was fatally shot by Gwinnett, Georgia police Friday morning. Authorities say he was armed and carrying a note before the shooting.
Police were dispatched to Singleton Road on reports of a man with a gun at around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
“Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak to the male and during the incident, the suspect pointed a gun at an officer,” Gwinnett County police spokesperson Hideshi Valle. “A Gwinnett police officer fired at the male. The male was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. At the hospital, a note was located on the male addressed to Gwinnett County police.”
The man was transported to the hospital where he died. Valle said at the hospital, the note was discovered on him.
“What I can reveal about the letter is that it was addressed to Gwinnett Police,” Valle said.
No other details on the note have been released.
Gwinnett County Police said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the deadly shooting, including the note that was found on his body.
