Häagen-Dazs is putting a luxe spin on their ice cream, thanks to famed pastry chef Pierre Hermé.
The creamery and the French chocolatier have teamed up to introduce a macaron-infused ice cream line. Häagen-Dazs will have the option to choose between a strawberry and raspberry blend, double chocolate ganache, and lastly, a pint that combines yuzu and lemon. Hermé, known as the “Picasso of Pastries,” a nickname given to him by Vogue, incorporates his secret macaron recipe, placing literal pastry chunks in each scoop.
“My macarons are my identity, so to put them in an ice cream, I needed to work with the very best,” Hermé shared after news broke of the highly anticipated collab.
Hermé founded his luxury pastry company, Pierre Hermé Paris, in 1997. He opened its first retail store the following year in Tokyo, followed by the second location in 2001, which sits in Paris. He was dubbed World’s Best Pastry Chef by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy in 2016, making him overqualified to develop this latest Häagen-Dazs flavor.
Häagen-Dazs and Hermé rolled out their delicious dessert with a tea party campaign featuring macaron treats instead of tea. The gorgeous images, which aren’t typically seen in ice cream debuts, captured the essence of Paris, showing a group enjoying themselves with various sweets.
It’s unclear if this is a limited collection. Still, the Häagen-Dazs X Pierre Hermé 2023 collection officially debuted in February in the U.K. and France and is slowly expanding globally within the upcoming months.
