It was official, but now it’s seriously official that Halle Bailey is the Little Mermaid.

The singer, 22, took to social media gushing over the doll version of her Little Mermaid character.

omg, the little girl in me is pinching herself right now ..i have my own Little Mermaid Ariel doll !!! I can’t believe how much she captures my version of this iconic character brb gonna go cry now …”

Bailey’s role as Ariel stirred controversy after critics thought Disney should have casted a white actress to star as the fictional character.

Last year, Bailey spoke to E! about the role and letting go of the pressure she initially felt, saying, “I think that before I started filming, I did feel some nerves naturally because the film is so important to so many people,” she said. “The fact that all these little Black and Brown babies are going to be able to feel like they’re being represented is really special to me. I know that if I had that when I was younger, it would have changed a whole lot for me and my perspective on who I am as an individual.”

The star has received an outpour of love on social media with users reacting to her new doll.
