Halle Bailey has opened up about motherhood and the origins of her son’s viral name.
“The Little Mermaid” star has been in the news since revealing she and Youtuber DDG welcomed a son, who they named Halo. It’s unknown when she had the baby, but she announced his birth in a December 2023 Instagram post. Since then, fans have been eager to get a glimpse of Halo. While the parents aren’t ready to show his face online, Bailey is gloating over the name they chose.
“It was actually my boyfriend’s idea. He’s the one who came up with his name,” Bailey shared with People, adding that once he presented the name, she absolutely loved it.
Many believed the name was an ode to Beyonce’s 2028 ballad, “Halo.” Since Bailey and sister Chloe are signed to Bey’s Parkwood imprint, this seemed to fit the narrative. Bailey didn’t exactly admit the song inspired the name, but she indeed welcomes the connection.
“He for sure has a theme song,” Bailey added.
As Bailey continues to enjoy motherhood and her breastfeeding journey, her pregnancy and birth have sparked controversy. There has been much debate online regarding whether or not Bailey lied about being pregnant. She has defended her right to keep her pregnancy private. Since sharing the photo of Halo’s hand, DDG has shared several peeks of Halo on his social media platforms in a similar manner, careful not to show the infant’s face.
