Fans went into a social media frenzy on New Years Day after Halle Berry and boyfriend Van Hunt sparked marriage rumors.
The Catwoman actress posted Instagram pictures of her and Hunt at an intimate alter, captioning “well…IT’S OFFICIAL.”
Hunt is now addressing the viral prank that made loyal fans believe they were married. The musician says they “never tried any prank.” He says, “We were just teasing, trying our very own January Fool’s Day.”
The couple confirmed their relationship in September 2020 and have been inseparable since. They were surprised that fans believed they eloped.
Hunt has made music for artists and is an artist himself. He produced H.E.R.’s “Automatic Woman” for Netflix’s Bruised soundtrack. The Ohio native dropped his debut album, Van Hunt, in 2004.
Hunt, 51, admits that if he can get Berry, 55, an Oscar nomination and she wins that they would get married after trying to get her to sing backup on “Automatic Woman.”
He did share that he’d never imagined starting a relationship at 50, but he and Berry are doing well. “I’m just glad that we met … the opportunity to me is something that I never even dreamed was possible, to begin a relationship at 50. But it’s going really, really well. That’s all I can say.”
