Halle Berry will receive the “The People’s Icon” award at this year’s People’s Choice Awards.
On Friday, NBC and E! announced just days after her highly anticipated film, “Bruised,” arrived in theaters. On November 24th, fans can enjoy it on Netflix as well. Berry makes her directorial debut in the MMA drama that she also stars in. She and Cardi B made history by producing the first all-female hip-hop soundtrack for the movie.
E! News, NBCUniversal Entertainment Television, and Streaming EVP Jen Neal praised Berry for her Illustrious career.
“Throughout her career, Halle Berry has broken down barriers, directed and starred in diverse roles that have paved the way for others in the industry,” Neal stated.
The 55-year-old’s career has been marked with memorable roles in “Baps,” “Catwoman,” “Gothika,” “The Call,” and “Monster’s Ball,” which made her the first Black woman to accept the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002. Berry also won an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG Award, and NAACP Image Award for her iconic role in the HBO original film “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” which she also produced.
The decorated star will receive the award on December 7th during the ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Cardi will present Berry with the honor.
