Beyonce’s “Lemonade” has left Bey Hive members and beyond in awe, and for good reason; the production was simply amazing. The compelling one hour visual that took every single media outlet by storm, debuted Saturday night on HBO, and is now eligible for Emmy consideration. This will be the third Emmy nomination for Queen Bey.
HBO will be submitting the visual project in the variety special category and will honor Kahlil Joseph and Beyonce as the credited directors for the film. Whether or not the other six “additional directors” Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund and Mark Romanek will be included, is still unknown.
Queen Bey received two prior Emmy nominations, for her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show in 2013 and for her “On the Run Tour” concert special with Jay Z, but didn’t walk away with a win. But you know what they say, third time’s a charm.
The winner of variety special category in 2015 went to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special”.
