Hash browns and ketchup go together so well that Heinz has launched a breakfast dish stuffed with the tomato-based condiment.Â
The new ketchup-stuffed hash brown is Heinz’s latest creation, making the brand’s famous bright red sauce readily available for dipping without breaking out the ketchup bottle. The unique spin on the fried potatoes arrives after the enormous success of the Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns, which was introduced last year. The inaugural stuffed meal follows the same concept, but the hash browns are full of baked beans instead of ketchup.Â
This frozen meal will make its store debut on August 28th, but there is a catch: Only Iceland will be getting the first shipment of the stuffed hash browns.Â
“Heinz Tomato Ketchup is truly a global favorite, so it made complete sense to combine it with another classic family favorite, perfect for any mealtime,” said Heinz Head Of Growth Sophie Higgins in a statement. “We’re so excited to be bringing our Heinz Tomato Ketchup Filled Hash Browns to our filled hash brown family.”
Iceland Foods is also excited about its region being selected for the ketchup-stuffed hash browns, especially after seeing how well the beans-stuffed hash browns did among fans.Â
“Following the success of the Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns, it was time to introduce a new Heinz frozen product to the range, aimed at bringing delight to our breakfast-loving customers,” the company said in its own statement.Â
While some social media users aren’t entirely sold on the new invention, others seemed quite intrigued. Nevertheless, Iceland’s foodies will determine whether or not this crispy meal becomes the next international craze.Â
