Imagine swimming in the ocean and a helicopter crashing into the water. Well, that’s what beachgoers saw on Saturday.
A helicopter crashed into Miami ocean waters right off the beach and landed only a few feet away from swimmers who were swimming in a crowded stretch that is popular among tourists, officials said.
Two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition. Luckily, no one else appeared to be injured.
The Miami Beach Police Department posted on Twitter that it responded to a call Saturday afternoon regarding the crash and shared a video that captures the helicopter descending over the ocean before crashing into the water as those at the beach watch.
Police closed off a two-block stretch of the beach that included outdoor cafes, restaurants, and shops that travelers frequent, ABC News reported.
The police department also said the Federal Aviation Administration would be arriving at the scene.
