President Joe Biden announced significant changes to student loan forgiveness, which helps more student loan borrowers get forgiveness for their student loans. Biden has canceled more than 11 Million in student loans, and here is your chance to find out what is available, how you can apply, and if you qualify for eligibility loan forgiveness.
According to Forbes, the Student loan relief, including temporary student loan forbearance from the pandemic, ends on January 31, 2022.
You can apply for student loan forgiveness during the Biden administration using some of these eight options:
1. Student loan forgiveness for public servants:
You can get student loan forgiveness if you work for a qualified government or non-profit employer. Still, you must meet specific requirements such as working full-time, making 120 monthly payments, and enrolling in an income-driven repayment plan.
2. Student loan forgiveness for teachers:
To get teacher loan forgiveness, you must teach full-time for five academic years in a low-income school. Direct Loans and FFEL Loans are both eligible, and you could qualify for up to $17,500 of student loan forgiveness.
3. Student loan forgiveness if your school closes:
If your college or university closed while you were enrolled or shortly after you withdrew, you could qualify for partial student loan forgiveness or total student loan forgiveness.
4. Student loan forgiveness for Perkins Loans:
Perkins Loans are eligible for partial to complete student loan cancellation. You could get student loan forgiveness for Perkins Loans based on your employment or volunteer service. There is also a possibility to get Perkins Loans discharged, but you must apply to the school that issued your loan or to your school’s student loan servicer for Perkins Loans.
You can also qualify to have student loan forgiveness in cases of death, total or permanent disability, or if you can demonstrate an undue hardship as indicated by the “Brunner Test.”
