High school basketball phenom Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA superstar Gilbert Arenas, was rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning after crashing his Tesla Cybertruck.
The cause of the wreck remains unclear, but images online claiming to show Alijah’s luxury vehicle display the truck completely mangled on the side of a Los Angeles neighborhood road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene at 4:55 AM after reports of a “trapped patient,” but by then, everyone inside had already exited the vehicle.
The front of the Tesla was reportedly engulfed in flames. An “approximately 18-year-old” was transported to the hospital in “serious condition.” According to ESPN, Alijah Arenas was placed into an induced coma.
Alijah is a top teenage player who recently inked a sponsorship deal with Adidas. A five-star recruit, the 18-year-old committed to USC after averaging nearly 31 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists during his high school career.
As of Thursday afternoon, neither Gilbert or Alijah’s mother, reality TV star Laura Govan, have commented publicly on his condition.
