People looking for love had high hopes earlier this week when Amazon Dating hit the web.
The website promised an online dating experience with all the perks of Amazon Prime subscriptions. There’s just one issue; the site turned out to be a satirical hoax.
The mockup site was developed by a team of emerging freelance content creators, Ani Acopian, music producer Suzy Shinn, director/animator Morgan Gruer, and developers Pasquale D’Silva and Jacob Bijani. It gave users (hypothetically, of course) a wide range of options such as selecting their love language, height preferences, and much more.
The creators got so descriptive with the site, that they added a “Legal” tab that features a binding “Non-Ghosting Agreement” that would hold potential daters accountable if they bailed on their dates and a risk of losing $50—with interest for nonpayment compounding monthly “at a rate of 50% for iPhone users and 100% for Android users,” the site claimed.
Though the site is simply for fun, you may still apply to be featured on Amazondating.co for the time being.
