Congratulations are in order for Salt-N-Peppa, the latest celebrity duo to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The milestone was announced earlier this week, making the two emcees the 2,739th Hollywood Walk of Fame star honoree.
On Tuesday, Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement, “This upcoming star ceremony honoring hip hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa will honor the amazing ’80s music we all love, and so many grew up with! We’re placing these ladies of hip hop royalty adjacent to Amoeba Music and right next to the Walk of Fame star of another queen of hip hop, Missy Elliott!”
The duo will receive their star on Friday, November 4, at 11:30 a.m. PT. It will be awarded to them next to Amoeba Music at 6213 Hollywood Boulevard. The ceremony’s guest speakers will be MC Lyte and Roxanne Chante, and walkoffame.com will be the only place to stream the entire ceremony live.
In 1985, Cheryl James (Salt) and Sandra Denton (Pepa) formed a group. Since then, they have achieved a number of accomplishments, including three No. 1s on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, five albums on the Billboard 200, and winning the Grammy for best rap performance by a duo or group in 1995, making them the first women in rap to do so.
