Hopefully, there won’t be any ear-biting this go around, but it looks like Evander Holyfield, 58, and Mike Tyson, 54, are coming close to an agreement for a third fight.
According to TMZ Sports, Evander said, “I’m a very confident person.” He added, “I think it’s gonna happen.”
After Mike fought Roy Jones Jr., Tyson revealed that his team had been in touch with Holyfield’s camp but couldn’t make a deal. But according to Evander, he says there’s been movement, and it’s heading in the right direction.
We all can recall when the two first clashed in 1996 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas — where Evander dominated Mike before securing a win via TKO in the 11th round.
In 1997, during the Tyson vs. Holyfield rematch, also known as “the bite fight,” Mike famously feasted on Evanders ears and was disqualified in the 3rd round.
Evander’s last sanctioned fight took place in 2011 when he was nearly 48 years old — defeating 46-year-old Danish heavyweight Brian Nielsen.
Sources say that Holyfield has been in the gym training like crazy, but the question is, does he have what it take to beat Mike Tyson?
The Real Deal is hoping to find out … sending this message to his old rival.
“Let’s do it, baby! Simple as that. Let’s do it!”
