Ice Spice is in hot water after a hairstylist accused the rapper of running off on her wig tab.
A New York stylist who goes by Thee Bella Brand on Instagram (@theebellabrand) called out Spice in a lengthy IG post. According to Bella, Spice’s team reached out to them to customize 19 wigs for Spice’s tour. They allegedly then requested another five. However, Bella claims that once it was time to pay for the hair units, they refused, stating they didn’t have the budget to do so. Bella says they ultimately canceled the wig order altogether, but since the work was already done, the stylist offered to give Spice the wigs. Her team counter-offered, claiming they would at least cover Bella’s service fee. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear this happened either, and Spice requested another wig after the debacle.
The situation was trending on social media much of Tuesday, especially after Bella claimed in the post that Spice only wanted Nicki Minaj-inspired wigs. The stylist included a reel that included screenshots of Spice sending photos of Minaj as references for her wig designs.
“Thank you for making us make all of these Nicki Minaj wigs. I’m going to go ahead and not upload the rest of the screenshots since this is supposed to be Princess Diana, but it’s really always Queen Onika,” Bella wrote in part of the caption.
This viral fallout only further fueled rumors that Spice was secretly attempting to mimic her former mentor’s style. This became a social media topic during Spice’s 2024 BET Awards appearance, where Spice rocked a short layered and curled bob, which resembled Minaj’s look in B.O.B.’s video for “Out of My Mind.” In the text message screenshots shared by Bella, it appears that Spice included an image of Minaj’s look from the visual.
Spice has not responded publicly to the wig drama.
