Surveillance video shows a Good Samaritan getting beaten up on a Midtown sidewalk after giving a homeless man his coat on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the incident began when the 59-year-old victim attempted to assist Xavier Israel, 25, who was laying on a sidewalk in front of 476 5th Ave.
In the video obtained by The Post, Israel is seen being covered with the victim’s jacket just moments before leaping to his feet and appearing to push the victim to the ground before stealing his wallet from his rear pants pocket.
Further into the video, you can see the victim tries in vain to grab his wallet, but the suspect hits him and throws him to the ground.
Police arrested Israel shortly after he fled the scene on West 41st St. and 5th Ave. They recovered nearly $1,500 from Israel after witnesses told them he stuffed cash inside his pants.
According to sources, Israel was charged with assault, robbery, and grand larceny.
On the scene, the victim declined medical help.
This is allegedly Israel’s second time attacking a good Samaritan in the last few days.
Israel is suspected of assaulting a 49-year-old woman who wanted to help on Saturday outside a building on East 81st Street in the Upper East Side.
According to reports, the woman fell to the ground and received a cut to her elbow. Israel was detained, charged with assault, and released on a desk appearance ticket.
On Jan 2 he was accused of allegedly assaulting two 18-year-old victims in Central Park.
