An angry homeless man aimed at California Gov. Gavin Newsom during a tour of small businesses in Oakland and chucked a water bottle at him.
According to The New York Post, Newsom was on his way to Marshawn Lynch’s Beastmode Barbershop and a pizza restaurant when the unidentified man approached his entourage, including Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
The 54-year-old homeless man from nearby Berkeley then launched a water bottle at the Governor before being subdued and arrested.
“This morning, the Governor was approached by an aggressive individual,” a statement from the California Highway Patrol said.“Members of the Governor’s security detail removed the Governor from the situation and the individual was arrested by CHP officers.”
Newsom joked with reporters later in the day, saying that the man had an unorthodox method of saying hello.
