Homeless Model Killed By Roommate After Complaining About the Woman’s Behavior

A vibrant model who had fallen on hard times was brutally stabbed to death by her roommate at a New York City shelter.

Victoria Goode was just 27 years old and trying her best to make her mark in the world of fashion.  The stunning woman had walked runways for several brands and even appeared on the cover of Vogue Mexico.  Sadly, she’d struggled to find steady work in recent months, though she never stopped searching.  Goode was forced to move into the Project Renewal New Providence Women’s Shelter on East 45th Street, where she was paired with 42-year-old Charmaine Croffman.

Before their violent confrontation, Goode confided in her family that she was fearful of Croffman.  She even went to the shelter staff directly to express her concerns, to no avail. James’s father said his daughter told him Croffman would often speak of the devil and was “more than a jerk” to Goode.  The disturbing behavior took a turn on December 16th when Croffman began spraying air freshener at the victim because music in the room was being played too loud.  Goode responded by throwing a blanket at her.  This was when the altercation turned deadly, with Croffman stabbing Goode several times with a knife.  Another resident at the shelter, Melinda Anders, was on the second floor when she heard the screaming from the sixth floor and went to investigate.  Once upstairs, she saw Goode’s mangled body and blood on the floor.

Emergency responders rushed Goode to Bellevue Hospital with stab wounds to the chest, arm, shoulder, and thigh.  Unfortunately, she was unable to be saved. Croffman immediately went on the run but surrendered on December 20th.  She was still wearing the same clothes seen in the surveillance footage from the day of the murder.

Goode’s family is located in Oklahoma and says she was in New York to pursue her model aspirations.  They were looking forward to welcoming Goode home for Christmas but, instead, are now being forced to plan her funeral with the help of a GoFundMe campaign.

Croffman has been charged with murder as the family prepares to file a wrongful death suit against the shelter.
