The pro-Trump rioter who was photographed in the U.S. Capitol carrying a 6-foot spear and wearing a horned helmet has been arrested and charged, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said in a press release.
According to NBC News, 33-year-old Jacob Anthony Chansley, from Arizona, was taken into custody earlier today.
Chansley, who is a longtime QAnon supporter, confessed he was the man photographed standing at Vice President Mike Pence‘s chair on the Senate dais.
Chansley has been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in the restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and the violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, the U.S. Attorney’s press release said.
Court documents reveal that Chansley voluntarily spoke with law enforcement on Jan. 7 and told authorities that he traveled to the capital with a group other protesters turned rioters from Arizona, “at the request of the President that all ‘patriots’ come to D.C.”
