Kelvin Sampson, Head Coach of the Houston Cougars, revealed on Thursday that every player on his team has had COVID-19 since the summer, and some coaches and staff have had it as well.
According to Sports Illustrated, Sampson confirmed that “All 15 players” have come down with the virus at some point. The team has not played since they won on December 5th game against South Carolina.
On December 8th, all basketball activities stopped due to a Covid-19 outbreak; however, the Cougars were cleared to resume team workouts this past Tuesday afternoon. Sampson told reporters that the program has been practicing with just six players for the past few days.
Sampson said he expects to have at least two more players to be cleared before this Sunday’s game against Alcorn State.
