A Houston man was arrested for killing a 26-year-old woman by running, hitting her with his car, and beating her with a metal pole.
Chiedozie Amadi, 22, has been charged with murder.
Houston police responded to reports of a car crash around 2 a.m. early Thursday. Amadi was standing over the victim, identified as Jasmine James.
Witnesses told authorities that the victim was walking on the sidewalk, and Amadi appeared to intentionally strike James with his car, causing the vehicle to flip over. The suspect was beating the woman in the head with the metal object.
James was brought to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The officers detained Amadi at the scene, and he admitted to the murder. He was subsequently charged.
