How Do I Tell My Friend She’s Ratchet?

Have you ever had a friend who talks a lot of mess about ratchet people but doesn’t realize that she too has every quality that deems her as a hot ratchet mess? Does she wear lace front wigs and ghetto attire but swear she’s classy? How do you tell your girl to look in the mirror and realize that she’s ratchet?

I have a friend who I’ve known for a pretty long time. She will be the first one to talk about someone being ghetto and ratchet but has a collection of synthetic lace front wigs and dawns an invisible part with the best of them. She likes her hair weaves two toned/multicolored and prefers as good quick weave. Some would consider these ratchet hair styles. She wears clothes that many would consider ratchet which would include kitten heels, fishnet leggings and whatever else you can find from AmiClubwear.com. She has tattoos of men’s names on her body and piercings on her face. She takes pictures making the kissy face and makes them her Facebook default. She’s a ghetto ratchet girl in denial.

Granted my friend isn’t 100% ratchet. She lives in a nice neighborhood, doesn’t have a basketball team worth of baby daddies, has a decent paying job and isn’t on any government assistance. It’s no wonder she wouldn’t realize her hood tendencies. Maybe there is a class right above ratchet but a few steps below classy. How am I supposed to come out and tell her that she is just shy of a Shenaynay herself? I’ve tried the pot calling the kettle black approach but I don’t think she gets it. I think when she looks in the mirror she sees a Kardashian. She sees Michelle Obama. She sees prestige. I see hood prestige. I see her as slightly above the other hood friends she has. Not saying I’m better, because I’m a tad ghetto too, but my girl, she’s a gold tooth short of being a hot ratchet mess.

So how do you tell your friend they’re ratchet? How do you break it to them without completely hurting their feelings or making them feel like you think you’re better than they are?
