How Long Is TOO LONG To Wait For A Marriage Proposal?

How long are we supposed to wait for a marriage proposal? 6 months? 1 year? 3 years? How about 10 years?

In this time in day, I believe we are torn between hurrying up to settle down and hooching it up, but when it comes to settling down, should it be a quick thing or should you take your time and really get to know the person?

In the celebrity world lately, getting married isn’t the number one thing on their minds either. Diddy and Miguel both weighed in on voting not to marry at all or not to marry anytime soon to their long term girlfriends. So are we supposed to sit around and wait for our lover to propose or leave and find someone else who shares the life goal of marriage?

Listen here… in my opinion, if you should not waste your time with someone who’s goal is not to marry when yours is to marry. You should never try to force someone into doing something they don’t want to do.

Open your mouth and talk to your significant other

They aren’t going to know you are dying for a ring if you don’t say so. Mind reading doesn’t exist so don’t expect them to just know marriage is on your mind.

Leave

If marriage is not an option for your lover, then leave, especially if it is what your heart desires. You can not force anyone to marry you nor is it wise to sit around and wait for someone to propose. Yes, I am aware that things can change, but use your judgement. If it’s going past five years, it’s time to ask some questions.

Drop some hints boo

Maybe bae is just completely clueless, it happens. Drop some hints around the house. Photos of rings, ask them “oh what do you think of this gown” “Wouldn’t this ring look nice on me?” Yes, drop all the hits you have, it doesn’t hurt.

Couples counseling

If all fails, try couples counseling. Get to the root of why your lover doesn’t want to get married or f their decision is reversible. Sometimes it’s great to have some type of mediator to ease the sensitivity of the situation.

In all, there is no set time to wait for a ring. A person knows if they want to jump the broom or not. Try dropping some hits, counseling, or just straight up talking to bae. If all else fails… leave them.
