With the uncertainty of the Omarion variant lingering, many people may have to celebrate the holidays alone, whether that be out of fear of catching COVID or already having it.
This leaves the question, how do you celebrate the holidays alone? Especially a holiday that is widely celebrated with family and friends. Let’s be honest; no one wants to open gifts or bring in the new year alone. But don’t fret if this is your situation.
There are a few things that can help you get through the days if COVID has wreaked havoc on or around you.
First things first, Psychology Today says it’s best to acknowledge your circumstances and from there make the most of the situation.
Thanks to technology, things like zoom and FaceTime can virtually have you in the mix. You can still watch gift opening, dancing, and whatever other traditions your family does. And if that’s not enough, you can host a virtual party with music and dancing.
Cook yourself a good meal or order in if some eateries are open. One good thing about eating alone, you can eat whatever you want, which doesn’t have to be the traditional holiday meal.
And one other thing about being alone is that you can spend some time self-reflecting. With the new year approaching, it’s nothing like gearing up for it. List out your goals, make your vision board.
If that doesn’t do it for you, you have an ample amount of time to read a book, clean, watch some good tv, or do anything else you’ve been putting off.
One thing is for sure: many of us don’t take advantage of having downtime. We could probably agree that one thing about COVID, it definitely gave a lot of us that.
