Instagram has officially made reposting public reels and posts a built-in feature — no more third-party apps or workarounds needed. If you’ve been wondering how to share your favorite content the right way or where those reposts even go, here’s a full breakdown of how it works.
How to Repost on Instagram
To repost a reel or post:
-Open the Instagram app.
-Tap the Repost icon on any public reel or post.
-Tap the bubble by your profile pic on the bottom left to add text.
-Add whatever caption or commentary you want.
-Tap Add and it’s live.
Your repost will show up in a special Reposts tab on your profile. Followers may see it in their feed if the algorithm pushes it out. Others can react or comment, and those replies will slide into your DMs — literally.
Heads up: You can only repost content that the original creator has allowed to be reposted. And no, you can’t repost someone else’s repost.
How to Find and Manage Your Reposts
Lost track of what you’ve reshared? Here’s how to find them:
-Open the app and tap your Profile in the bottom right.
-Look for the Reposts tab on your profile — that’s where they live.
Want to delete a few? You can manage or bulk delete your reposts:
-Tap your Profile → Menu in the top right.
-Go to Your Activity → Reposts.
-Select what you want gone and tap Delete.
Control Who Can Repost Your Content
To stop others from reposting your stuff:
-Go to your Profile → Menu.
-Tap Sharing under How others can interact with you.
-Use the Toggle next to Allow reposts to turn it off or on.
Report a Repost
If someone’s using your content inappropriately:
-Long-press their profile pic on the repost.
-Tap Report and follow the instructions.
