In today’s era, we hear all about athletes and their accomplishments on and off the field or court. We hear about their mistakes, cheating scandals, multiple kids, and relationships. Rarely do we take a moment to look at the positives of the professional athlete. There are women dying to get their hands on a professional athlete. They come in herds with fresh bundles, pigeon toed stances, and waist trainers on fleek. They are dying to attract the attention of the professional athlete. They see the glitz and glamour. They see the money. They see the cars, but do they see the long hours the professional athlete puts in to stay on top? Do they see the ice baths and Epsom water soaks? Do they see the pain and tears after the loss of a game? Do they understand the depression an athlete may endure by constantly being away from their families?
There are some women who will be there for the long run and some only there for the championship game. Guys, what kind of woman will you choose?
Let’s not forget the athletes attempting to go pro? Are you mentally capable to love a man that is being transparent and vulnerable? He is attempting to go pro at probably an age that is NOT his prime. Are you ready?
The professional athlete is competitive, ambitious, and motivated. However, there are some professional athletes that are depressed, tired, and weary. Skin tight dresses and bundles can only warm their hearts for so long, So, how can one truly love the professional athlete?
1. You have to understand that he will need Encouragement and Unconditional Love, Minus the Games.
An athlete will have to deal with losses, time away from home/families, and injuries. Are you mentally prepared to handle the setbacks? Are you financially educated enough to handle the home and/or kids while he is away? Are you able to deal with attitude/tears after the loss of a game?
These are just examples. In order to truly love the professional athlete in your life, you will need to be his constant peace. You will need to always offer encouragement and support. You will need to sacrifice your own time in order to provide peace over his heart and life. Sounds simple, but it isn’t easy.
He doesn’t want to hear you complain about him going to another practice and missing time away from you. His athleticism is his money maker. When he marries, he is still a professional athlete. He will still need encouragement, support, and unconditional love. He will definitely not need the nagging.
2. Cook for him when he is home
Athletes are on the road majority of the time. Greet him with a healthy home cooked meal. You know your mom wasn’t lying when they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. He will definitely appreciate you. He will miss being home and ultimately miss you.
3. Know that at any moment his career could be over
Losing his career will be a blow. He may endure an injury or get cut. However, what can you bring to the table? How can you help him bounce back? What other businesses can you help him start?
Always remember that One day he will get old, he probably won’t be a KOBE in the game, but he definitely will NEED his Vanessa in the long run.
