$280,000 in cash and several safe deposit boxes were taken from a Brooklyn bank.
The HSBC bank in Brooklyn was robbed over the weekend, sometime between Friday and Monday, according to CNN. A ladder was found on the roof, where an unknown amount of thieves drilled a hole to bust through and cut into the vault.
On Monday morning an employee at the bank noticed the missing treasures and the holes in the ceiling over the vault. Security cameras at the bank did not catch the party (or parties) involved.
“There’s not a whole lot to go off of at this point,” NYPD Detective Hubert Reyes said.
The NYPD could not comment on whether or not the cameras were working or even turned on, but confirm it will all apart of the investigation. Authorities are checking the security footage from buildings and businesses nearby and collecting evidence from the scene to further their investigation.
The bank is located in a predominately Orthodox Jewish neighborhood, which CNN reports, is usually quiet on the weekends as residents observe the Sabbath.
The FBI and the NYPD are investigating the incident.
