Let’s take a trip down memory lane to revisit the racial controversy involving former WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. In July 2015, Hogan was fired by World Wrestling Entertainment after leaked tapes from 2007 revealed him using racial slurs while discussing his daughter Brooke’s relationship with an African American man. Hogan referred to the man using the N-word, expressing disapproval, and stating that he believed everyone is “a little racist.”
Hogan later apologized and began working with youth groups in an attempt to reshape his image, calling it the worst mistake of his life. However, his journey toward redemption has been controversial. Since then, he has become an avid Trump supporter. In July, he went viral again when African-American influencer Essence Jenai took to TikTok to share her negative experience with the wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea. She was hired by Hogan as an ambassador for his “Real American Beer” brand but claimed that after meeting him in person, she was terminated just a day later.
Neither Hogan nor WWE has commented on the matter, but the incident has left many fans wondering if Hogan’s controversial views and actions are still underlying feelings he holds, despite his public apologies.
Now in 2024, with the MAGA movement still prominent, Hogan is aligning with this narrative. He recently appeared on wrestler and influencer Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast to address the ongoing speculations about his racism. Hogan’s response caught many off guard.
“If Chris Benoit can do the crap he did and the fans still love him,” Hogan said. “I’ve made some major mistakes in my personal life. They’re very forgiving.”
Chris Benoit, a former WWE wrestler, was involved in a double murder-suicide in 2007, killing his wife Nancy and seven-year-old son Daniel before taking his own life. WWE has since scrubbed any mention of Benoit from its platforms. So, Hogan’s comparison to Benoit is perplexing, considering Benoit’s crimes and WWE’s effort to erase him from their history.
Benoit, despite his wrestling talent, is not regarded or mentioned on WWE television due to his actions. Hogan’s statement has left many users on X, formerly known as Twitter, questioning his judgment and wondering if these comments reflect his true beliefs or a continued pattern of troubling behavior.
Check out the video below and some of the reactions from Users on X.
Either Hulk Hogan doesn’t know what Chris Benoit did and he’s an idiot or Hulk Hogan does know what Chris Benoit did and he’s an idiot #Kayfabe https://t.co/24SChrHkpQ

i hope that wrestling fans understand that making memes about chris benoit and other problematic wrestlers has cultivated an environment where shitty people like hulk hogan believe that being a wrestler is grounds to not be held accountable for the harmful things they’ve done pic.twitter.com/MBzB1TCK1s

By “crap” Hulk Hogan is referring to Chris Benoit beating the living hell out of his wife for years before he murdered his entire family and himself. https://t.co/Fad9iAkcMr
