Rexburg Police Department confirmed two sets of human remains were found at “cult mom” Lori Vallow’s husband’s Salem, Idaho home on Tuesday. It is too early to confirm if the remains belong to Vallow’s missing kids, however, prosecutor Rob Wood said they were of children.
Doomsday author Chad Daybell was taken into custody not far from his Salem, Idaho home as police executed a search warrant on the property for the second time since the kids went missing in September.⠀⠀
At a press conference, Assistant Police Chief Gary Hagen said that Daybell was not under arrest but was detained for questioning. However, since then, Daybell has been arrested and booked into the Fremont County Jail. He has also been charged with two felony counts of of concealing or destroying evidence.
17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow were last seen in September. Tylee was last seen during a family trip to Yellowstone national park on September 8, and JJ was last seen at his school in Idaho on September 23.
Court docs say Daybell hid or destroyed remains on two different occasions, between September 22 and June 9, 2020. If found guilty, Daybell could face up to 5 years in prison or a $10,000 fine for each charge.
Lori Vallow was arrested in February and remains in jail after being charged with desertion and neglect in connection with the disappearance of her kids.
Both Vallow and Daybell maintain the kids are safe but will not disclose where they are. In addition to the missing children, the couple has been under suspicion following the deaths of both of their ex-spouses, as well as Lori Daybell’s brother — the shooter of Lori Daybell’s ex-husband.
