In a startling turn of events, 25 packages of cocaine washed ashore in the Florida Keys, courtesy of Hurricane Debby. The powerful hurricane, which was downgraded to a tropical storm on Monday, left behind more than just debris.
A beachgoer discovered the packages on the beach in the picturesque archipelago and promptly alerted the authorities. Samuel Briggs II, acting chief patrol agent for the U.S. Border Patrol’s Miami Sector, confirmed the find and shared a photo on social media. The image displayed the packages, each marked with a distinctive red V-shaped logo over a black rectangle.
Weighing in at 70 pounds, the cocaine has an estimated street value exceeding $1 million.
